Washington State contains some of the largest mountains in North America - the largest at 14,410 feet is Mt. Rainier. Only Mt. McKinley in Alaska is higher. To get this photo we had to drive for 3 hours up mountain dirt roads which as we rose in height became very snow covered - and this was July. Finally to the highest point we could easily get to we then had to way for the cloud cover to move away. An hour later we had a brief break in the clouds an were able to take this photo.
