This is the original Railroad Siding where several hundred thousand prisoners were "offloaded" from their cattle car trains to the Gates of Dachau. The camp itself is only about 50 paces from this siding.
The camp opened in 1933 and originally held political dissidents, gypsies, homosexuals, and religious prisioners. Later it became a holding camp for Jews on their way to the many extermination camps. The camp is now a memorial/museum and is a must see for anyone visiting Germany.
This Photograph was issued in a Limited Edition of 10 prints. You can customize this photo with any of our six 16x20 frames and six different varieties of mattes.
